A long lost Shard of dignity

The cold night air hissed around a lone figure, making the shadows seem longer than usual, but the tom didn't care. He was watching everything that was going on in the dead of the night. something about these past few nights made him made him skeptic. It was as though someone was trying to take him down.
I only he knew who. They would surly be punished hard.
Shard lifted his grey form into a standing position, giving him extra height to see farther into the throng of scared cats. This was an appealing sight, he almost couldn't hide the razor-edged smile that tried to creep its may unto his grey face.
"The more the merrier."
Although he had no idea what that ment, he had some rough idea of what he thought it should mean.

A rough hiss escaped through his ragged lips as his cold eyes caught sight of a bunch of ragged, dirty kits as they started to scuffle none to playfully. He hated to have to waste his energy to break it up, but he wouldn't stand for it.

"Thats enough!"
He pushed off the rock with outstretched claws, leaving a harsh sound in the air and a couple of scoure marks in the rock. He landed next to them, making some of the kits jump backwards in surprise. He pulled the nearest one close to him with an outstretched paw. He pushed his face in close ot the kit's as he opened his mouth in a smile.
"Now my dear kit, why aren't we playing nice?"
He lifted up his other paw, so that he was sitting on only his haunches, and ruffled the fur on the kit's head, in a gentle motion.
"You might want to save that for when you are big and strong, that way you can fight all who get in your way."

With one last look into it's eyes, he pushed it backwards into the other kits and made his way back over to the rock had been sitting on.

Someday i can use them against Snapper, then i'll become king.
